You can unseal the device if you have the unseal keys from the customer. The procedure to unseal is to write key 1 to address 0x00 (Control register in EVSW) followed by key 2 to the same address. To reset the gauge, write command 0x0041 to address 0x00.

As for the issue at hand, this could be caused by the large size of the batteries. There is a fundamental internal counter that sets a the limit for a continuous charge or discharge capacity accumulation to 16384mAh. If this limit is reached, odd things can happen with the FCC. The trick for dealing with such large capacity batteries is to calibrate the gauge so that it reports current as half of what it really is.
