Forum Post: RE: Can strings be shorted to increase LED current

Sorry but I'm still struggling with this :-)  If all ILEDx are shorted, can I still program the device to give me different currents through each ILED connection? I actually suspect not because each ILEDx current sink will be trying to modify its own ILEDx voltage to achieve its own programmed current ... and so they will be fighting against each other - as I understand it. Maybe if I turn off the feedback enables for say ILED2 and ILED3 (to prevent them fighting each other) I could then perhaps expect to have the same current flowing through each ILEDx. This would meet my needs because then I'd be able to program a full scale current of between 3 x 5mA and 3 x 29.8mA. How does this sound?

Thanks
