Forum Post: bq34z110EVM Design Steps procedure. Optimization Cycle procedure.

Hello,

I'm using the bq34z110.

The battery is 12V, 12Ah SLA (6 cells).

The chip is correctly calibrated to read the voltage and current of the pack. The number of series cells is programmed to be 6.

Step 1: Qmax set to be 12000mAh, series cells=6, design capacity=12000mAh, design power 24000mWh. Chemistry set to 802.. All other values left at default. Is there something else important? 

When I try to follow the "optimization cycle (STEP 8)" procedure (page 29 of SLUSB55A), all steps up to step 8 are OK.

After the 2nd C/10 discharge, the "update status" register remains at 05, where it should have changed to 06.

I've done this procedure several times with different batteries and different evaluation boards, and always got the same results.

What could possibly be wrong here?
