Forum Post: IC selection assistance - Li-poly backup scheme

Greetings. I am in the process of building a system that will charge a small capacity lithium polymer cell (~80mAh) from a larger capacity li-poly cell (~400mAh) – not unlike the larger capacity portable systems that can be used to charge a cell phone, etc, but without the need to output 5.0v. I am curious if there is a TI standalone IC that can handle charging one Li-poly cell from another. I do see that TI carries some Li-poly charging ICs, but they all require input voltages in excess of 3.7v for complete charging. I also see that TI carries boost ICs capable of working with single cell li-poly outputs, so I could build a system from these two components, but of course a standalone system would be preferred. So, does anyone know if TI carries such a solution?

Thanks,

Chris
