My application requires that I charge a 3000 Farad, 2.7 volt capacitor with a solar panel. I have found the TI bq24640 optimized for charging super capacitors and the TI bq24650 optimized for use with solar panels (MPPT). I also found the following document: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva473/slva473.pdf that addresses disabling the bq24650's precharge mode when used to charge super capacitors. Based upon the information I have read so far, I believe implementing a bq24650 is better than a bq24640. Am I this correct? Or, is there a better part for this application? Best regards.
